In his MMA career, Randy Couture got two victories by submission. He’s a great wrestler, but the submission game — it’s not his forte. Instead he enjoys knocking people around and beating them about the head until the referee stops the fight. On Pros vs Joes he can’t do that. It would Not Be Good, but he can take guys down and submit them. And boy, did he ever.
When I heard he was going to be on Pros vs Joes on Spike, I just had to tune in to see how that was going to be set up and get some kicks out of the can of whoop-ass I knew Randy was going to open up on the Joe’s. When the show started and I learned that whoever tapped out less would win — that sounded fair to me. Just get in there and survive. I’m not sure how much rest Randy had between bouts, but he took on three Joe’s in a row and just devoured them with submissions. He piled up close to 20 submission against the Joes in three four minute matches. Of course, edits to cut out the the slow bits in the matches made things look a bit worse than they were, but they were still pretty bad for these guys. One of the Joes was a close combat instructor and he wound up winning that portion of the contest and it got him two less tap outs than another guy that didn’t have any training. They just got scooped up, slammed and submitted.
I have no idea what my point is here except for the fact that it was cool to see Randy in action again and watching him just arm bar, shoulder wrench and rear naked choke these “normal” guys at will without getting tired gave me additional perspective on how good he is and how tough MMA really is. Plus it was a riot to see Michael Irvin and Jose Canseco just watch in awe and rip on the Joe’s while Randy did his thing. Priceless.

How does one go about signing up to be on joes vs pros
