While everyone is excited to see Sapp destroy some Joes – there are some other pro’s showing up this season that could be interesting in terms of humiliation / comedy as well. Namely, Paul Coffey and Marty McSorely. For those not in the know…those are hockey players. Coffey is best known for being a offensive, puck carrying, goal-scoring defenseman and McSorely, well…he’s a goon with the fourth most penalty minutes in NHL history and even got himself rung up on assault charges for bashing Donald Brashear in the head. With his stick. The two of them were teammates with the Oilers during the Gretzky era.
First off — Joes on skates. That’s some funny shit right there, I don’t care who you are.
I suppose for those episodes with the hockey, they might have Joes picked out with some hockey experience of some sort. Otherwise it could just be retarded with some poor ass Joe trying not to break his ankles as he stumbles around on skates and just gets creamed by McSorely or hip checked ten feet into the air by Coffey. That would be so unfair. But Funny.
So, ya gotta figure the Joes going up against McSorely / Coffey will have some hockey experience. Even so, the prospect of having to go into the corner and get the puck with McSorely looking to make you part of the advertisement in the boards is not pleasant. As a chippy, banging, smaller defenseman back in the day that, I speak from experience when I say my thought process was “I gotta get the FUCK out of here FAST” anytime I was chasing after the puck into the corner with a big ass left wing bearing down on me. Never mind a pro gunning for you.
Of course there’s probably going to be a shooting drill of some sort, probably against Coffey. Anything with checking will have McSorely. The really hysterical move would be to have the Joes have to face McSorely in an on ice brawl in place of the usual boxing / kickboxing / wrestling deal. I doubt it will happen, but I know I’ll be watching and hoping!
