Flashback — I’m with Riz. We’re at The Orleans in Vegas covering the IFL event there. We’re broadcasting, podcasting and doodlebop battling. On fight night, we’re on our way to the arena and in the elevator we get a guy who looks at me and goes — “Good Luck Tonight!”
We nod and smile, say thanks [...]

I’m in it
Is over.
I just found out  a little while ago that I passed the NSCA CSCS exam!
Whew. That’s good to know.
So here’s what I can say about my prep for the exam as a person without a prior exercise science background:
I purchased:

The NSCA’s Essentials of Strength and Conditioning text
The multimedia symposium CD’s
Three Practice tests [...]

For the past few CSCS study sessions I’ve been employing a Tabata interval. I’m not doing the 20 minutes on, 1o minutes off made popular by the CFJ article, “Tabata My Job” – but rather 37 minutes on and 18.5 minutes off. Same ratio — just a bit longer work effort. The idea here, [...]

Let’s see what’s going on… in no particular order…
Did you see Bob Sapp get creamed by Jan Nortje last night? Talk about looking bad. He looked horrible. I guess his ex-training partner (Nortje) learned something along the way, no? Admittedly, I thought Nortje was a tomato can (we all did), but he proved me (and [...]

Not that anyone will [...]

Well, I took my first NSCA CSCS practice exam and passed. It wasn’t a perfect score, for sure, but now I know what I don’t know. This is a good thing for further prep.
Based on what I got wrong, I know what test domains to focus on more. One nice thing about the test is [...]

Today I saw a number I haven’t seen in over 10 years. You see, I was standing on this scale and there was this #1 on the digital readout in front of the other numbers. It practically spoke to me and said “Hello Old Friend! It’s good to be back!”.
I’d broken the 200 lb barrier. [...]

There’s a lot of catching up to do, no?
Well, for one I just have not felt like writing. Not that I’m depressed or anything like that. Far from it. Just have not felt like writing for the most part. And…add to that the craziness of the holidays and blammo. No updates. Anyhoo, lets get somewhat [...]
